Lil Wayne and Birdman Move Forward With Plans To Settle Their Lawsuit

As you know, Lil Wayne and Birdman reunited on New Year’s Eve – the first time the pair were seen together (purposely) since their feud began over a year ago now. Obviously this was a great sign of a possible reconciliation, and now more details are being released as to what’s happening between the pair. TMZ reports that Mack Maine had Wayne and Birdman get on a phone call once they returned from the club, and they discussed the conflict and money owed. Wayne is open to a settlement in the $51 million lawsuit, but he does not plan to dismiss it, as he is still owed quite a large amount of money from the Cash Money CEO. An agreement is looking likely at this point, though.

Looks like Lil Wayne and Birdman started the year off right! As you know, the pair have been feuding for over a year now, after Wayne revealed in the fall of 2014 that there were issues with money and it was delaying the release of his next album, Tha Carter V. Over 14 months, two sub-par mixtapes, a free album via TIDAL (that Birdman sued Hov over), a potential plot to have Wayne killed and tons of Cash Money shots in Wayne’s music later and we still don’t have C5…but it looks like 2016 just may bring us the long-awaited project! Taking to Instagram last night, Mack Maine shared photos from Drake’s NYE concert (who also was rumored to have friction with the YMCMB camp,) showing Birdman and Wayne finally back together! 2 Chainz was in the mix as well. “Happy New Year ya heard me!!!” Mack wrote. “Yea that’s Stunna yea that’s Tune yea that’s 2Chainz yea that Hood yea that’s T@ yea that’s Mack yea 2 da yea love 2 da love!!!! #FamilyLiveAtDrakePartyHePerformingRightNow” So glad these two finally put their differences to the side!

Mack Maine And Birdman Slapped With Lawsuit After Parents See Their Son On Album Cover

Back in 2013, a 16 year-old went on a drunk driving rampage which ended in the deaths of four other teens. The driver, Ethan Couch dodged jail time with the defense he was suffering from “affluenza.” (Meaning, he was the product of wealthy and privileged parents and was never taught right from wrong.) Well, this case was the spark of inspiration for rapper, Mack Maine who wrote a song about it appropriately titled, Ethan Couch. The cover art for the track features a photo of a young boy, who they thought was Mr. Couch but turned out to be the wrong kid! Hit the jump for more details.

Lil Wayne Makes Amends With His DJ After Chucking A Microphone At Him On Stage

Last week, Lil Wayne made it very public that he was angry with his DJ of the past 8+ years after he chucked a microphone at him during his performance before storming off stage. Wayne was performing at Nova South Eastern University in Miami when his DJ played the regular version of O.T. Genasis’ “CoCo” song instead of the instrumental, where he was going to deliver his Cash Money diss live on-stage fresh off his Sorry 4 The Wait 2 mixtape. The DJ was also apparently messing up the order of his playlist throughout the performance, adding more fuel to Weezy’s fire. However, sources have revealed that YMCMB president Mack Maine sat the two down and made them peace it up. It’s stupid to see a relationship go down the drain over something so petty (although Wayne has been going through that a lot lately).

Update: Rahim the Dream reveals the cover art for Lil Wayne’s Sorry For The Wait. Check out the official masterpiece in the gallery above. Original: Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter V might not see the light of day for some time (I’m hoping soon though!) so in the meantime, the Young Money leader has been putting together a second installment of his Sorry For The Wait mixtape series to hold fans over. We were first introduced to the series in 2011, when Tha Carter IV kept getting pushed back as well. On the tapes, Tune freestyles over some of the hottest songs in the last year or so, and per a previous update, we already know one of them is iLoveMakonnen’s “Tuesday.”

Don’t Stress! Mack Maine Has A GOOD Update About Lil Wayne vs. Cash Money!

As we all know by now, Lil Wayne is at odds with Birdman and Cash Money Records over the long-awaited Tha Carter V. Via Weezy’s Twitter rant a little over a week ago, Birdman and CMR “refuse to release” the album, and he wants “off this label and nothing to do with these people.” He did not elaborate on why exactly he’s at odds with his longtime label, but a later update said that Birdman was “deeply offended” by the statements. He also said he has no plans to release Wayne from his contract, even being willing to go to court if that’s what it takes. He does, however, plan to release Tha Carter V at some point, but says there’s still “lots of administrative work” left to be done before it can drop.
