Byron Scott took over and led the Los Angeles Lakers to their worst two seasons in franchise history, finishing at 38-126. Granted Kobe Bryant took much of their salary cap and the last season was dedicated to his farewell, Scott was criticized for his contradictory statements and unwillingness to properly develop the young players. Despite all that, Scott is sure the Lakers will retain him as the head coach and as for his critics? Well Scott says he’s smarter than all of them.
Two words became infamous and made former NBA commissioner David Stern the most-hated man by the Lakers fanbase, “basketball reasons”. That was his excuse for nixing a deal that would send Chris Paul to the LA Lakers to team up with Kobe Bryant. Paul eventually ended up with the LA Clippers instead, and prior to Bryant and Paul facing off for the final time, they both reflected on what could have been.
It’s going to take a while before D’Angelo Russell can completely move on from this mess. He’s said that he’s hated everywhere he goes and that includes right at home in the Staples Center.
