Interesting: Guess Which Hip-Hop Album Entertainment Weekly AND Time Named ‘Album Of The Year’

It’s that time of year when publications begin listing the best of the best that was released in the last 12 months. TIME, Entertainment Weekly and Rolling Stone compiled today their Best Albums Of 2013 lists, and it’s interesting to see who topped two and came close (at number 2) on the third: Kanye West’s Yeezus. There have been way more negative reviews of the project than good, and though first week sales were quite high, they fell off rather quickly and were eventually beaten by his competitor (for album release day), J. Cole. His current concert ticket sales crisis also speaks to the fact that its popularity isn’t the highest. Hmmm! Do you agree with their choices? I’m not saying it was a bad album by any means, but best of the year? Nah, I’m good. Check out their full lists below and let us know your thoughts!

If You Want To Work In Music, You Should Probably Live In 1 of These 10 Cities

The obvious places for people who want to get into music are NYC and L.A., but there are also a handful of other cities that are booming in the music industry and can give you high chances of landing a gig in the biz. In terms of concentration of music industry jobs, Nashville is tops with 7.8 per 1,000 residents, according to EMSI data in the report. Los Angeles is a distant second with 2.8. Austin is third with 2.6. At 2.0, New York actually falls beneath the 2.1 of Charlotte, N.C. It should come as no surprise that the cities with the three highest concentrations of music industry jobs also have the best-paying ones. Los Angeles tops all markets in average music job earnings with 175% of the country’s average salary. Nashville is second at 156%, and New York is third at 147%. Music jobs pay less than the national average in Charlotte (99%), Austin (94%), Atlanta (85%), Memphis (79%) and New Orleans (73%).
