Last night, the greatest closer in the history of baseball stood on the mound in Yankee Stadium and waved good bye to the home crowd for the last time in his career. Mariano Rivera, who has been the most reliable member of the Yankees for almost 20 years, was taken out of the game with one out left in a loss to the Tampa Rays, so the crowd could give him the ovation he deserved in the last time fans in New York will see him pitch in person. Instead of the usual manager coming to take him out of the game, the other longtime Yankees, Derek Jeter and Andy Pettitte came to relieve him and that is when Rivera got very emotional. Hit the jump to see video of the best to ever do it, walk off the field for the final time. Congrats on a hall of fame career.
Michael Vick is going to get one last chance to go out on top as a member of the Eagles. Starter Nick Foles broke his hand last game, which means Vick will “most likely” start according to coach Andy Reid when they take on the New York Giants this Sunday. It is almost certain that the Eagles and Vick will part ways after this season ends. Overall it has been a disappointment with the Michael Vick experiment in Philadephia. Read more after the jump. Posted by Sabrina B. @gametimegirl This could be the end for LaDainian Tomlinson. The Jets running back is a free agent after this season, and he acknowledged that the regular-season finale Sunday at Miami could be the last game of his career if New York does not make the playoffs.
