Kobe didn’t have a great night on the stat sheet but nobody cared about that to begin with. The entire purpose of this years all star game was to celebrate the living legend that is Kobe Bryant. As coach Gregg Popovich removed Kobe from an all star game for the final time, the players on the court and the fans in the seats gave him exactly what he deserved in the form of a standing ovation. You can see he was genuinely touched by the outpouring of love from his peers and judging by how every player pretty much went out of their way to approach Kobe, the night means just as much to them watching their idol.

The night was all about Kobe Bryant but in the end it was Russell Westbrook who stole the show, again! For the second year in a row, Westbrook was named MVP of the all star game, finishing with 31 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. The game was competitive until the 4th quarter when the West started to pull away as both teams shattered previous scoring records. Paul George finished only one point shy of the individual all star scoring record with 41 points but seeing as it came in a loss, it doesn’t hold as much weight.

The Miami Heat were the kings of video bombing post game interviews of their teammates when Lebron was still down in South Beach with Dwyane Wade. Seeing as how they are teammates once again for the all star game, they took their chance to jump in the middle of Kobe Bryant’s halftime interview with Craig Sager. Bron yelled while Wade smoothly bombed in front and Kobe just enjoyed the fun. Sager wanted it to be more of a serious talk and to get some emotions from Kobe, but the superstars had their own plans.

There have been many fashionable pieces we have seen this all star weekend in Toronto but Drake’s jacket in tribute to Kobe Bryant may have just took the cake. The jacket is straight up fire and I’m jealous I don’t have it myself. I’m not sure how warm it is keeping Drake in that freezing Toronto weather but I doubt he cares. All-Star weekend is all about letting loose and having fun and Spurs coach Gregg Popovich is taking full advantage. The usually very serious coach has been having a great time messing with his players. He went out of his way to walk in on a interview Kobe was doing with Craig Sager and decided it was time to end it. Then he took Kobe on the floor and did his best to play defense. There is a reason why every player who has ever played for coach Pop has love for him.
