NBA: Detroit Pistons in the Mix to Land Josh Smith & J.R Smith

Smaller market teams often have difficulty wooing big-time free agents. In fact, for a number of reasons, the Detroit Pistons haven’t even made a serious run at such a player in a long, long time. NBA: WOW, Paul Pierce & Josh Smith Were Almost Traded Where During Trade Deadline??

Reports are emerging today that Paul Pierce and the Boston Celtics almost parted ways on February 21, which was the last day of the NBA trade deadline for this season. There were many rumors leading up to that day that Boston might make a move, but most of the talks were regarding Kevin Garnett. Now we find out Pierce was pretty much all gone if not for the Atlanta Hawks wanting something extra last minute. Read more about it after the jump.

NBA Report: Josh Smith ‘Highly Unlikely’ to Re-Sign With the Atlanta Hawks

One of the biggest names leading up to the NBA trade deadline was Josh Smith of the Atlanta Hawks.  The team was publicly hesitant  about giving Smith the max contract he desired and it was believed he would walk at the end of the season.  Because of those reasons many assumed that without a doubt he would be traded before the deadline.  Hawks GM Danny Ferry shocked everyone when he pulled the plug on a potential deal with the Milwaukee Bucks and decided to keep the soon to be free agent.  It turns out he may pay dearly for that decision one way or another.  Read more after the jump.
