NBA: Bulls Deny Trying To Trade Jimmy Butler Last Night To The Timberwolves

The biggest story of the NBA draft night was perhaps the deal that didn’t work out. All night long we were bombarded with reports that the Bulls were actively engaged in talks with the Timberwolves for the number five pick. A deal wasn’t made prior to the pick, so then the reports became specifically about Butler going to Minnesota for the draft rights to Providence’s Kris Dunn, as well as Ricky Rubio. In a shocking twist, the Wolves actually reportedly told the Bulls no because they wanted Zach LaVine instead of Rubio. LaVine is young and athletic but there hasn’t been much else to say about him so it’s somewhat crazy they would rather keep him than have added Butler. Since the deal didn’t work out, now the Bulls are completely denying there was any talks to begin with.

NBA: Report, Bulls Would Prefer To Trade Derrick Rose Instead Of Jimmy Butler

The drama continues to play out in Chicago following a terribly disappointing season. Once named one of the favorites to win the eastern conference, the Bulls didn’t even make the playoffs while under the guidance of first year coach, Fred Hoiberg. When a team with that much talent underachieves, there is bound to be some type of fall out and it feels like one way or another, the team will look different next season. As rumors continue to swirl around possible trade scenario’s involving Jimmy Butler, the Bulls reportedly would much rather move Derrick Rose and focus on Butler as the franchise player.

NBA Report: Bulls Could Look to Trade Jimmy Butler This Offseason

The Chicago Bulls were expected to be pretty good this year with the emergence of Jimmy Butler and a healthy Derrick Rose (well as healthy as he’s gonna get apparently).  Instead they’ve had a disastrous season.  They’re currently sitting at 37-37, the No. 9 spot in the Eastern Conference and out of the playoffs if things don’t change in the remaining eight games.  The Bulls haven’t gelled under new head coach Fred Hoiberg and with Joakim Noah and Pau Gasol becoming free agents, the team could look different next year.  In fact, they may not be the only ones gone; their new franchise player could be on the way out as well.

Jimmy Butler is already one of the tougher players in the NBA but what he did last night will leave you with no doubt. Butler took a scary fall after going to the rim and looked like he may have hurt his knee bad. He had to leave the court in a wheel chair but not before summoning the strength to get up and go shoot his free throws before being rolled off the court.
