NBA: Carmelo Anthony on Jeremy Lin With Nets: ‘He is the face of their franchise – believe it or not’

Jeremy Lin signed a three-year, $36 million deal with the Nets bringing him back to New York where his fame started, but this time, he’s with the team on the other side of the river.  Carmelo Anthony admitted to being surprised that Lin is Brooklyn’s new star when asked about his former teammate invading the Garden on Saturday for a Knicks-Nets preseason game, but he also said he was happy for Lin.

Jeremy Lin continues to live off of his “Linsanity” era with the Knicks. He announced this morning that he is signing with the Brooklyn Nets and Adrian Wojnarowski tweeted the deal is for three years/$36 million dollars. To be honest, considering the inflated market thanks to the higher salary cap, this is a great deal for the Nets. It gives them flexibility to continue to bolster the rest of the roster through free agency as well. Lin tweeted a short time ago with the Nets logo behind him, saying “The Journey continues…thankful for the next chapter! #Godisgood”. Lin averaged 11.7ppg last season to go along with 3.0apg, not exactly eye popping numbers but the Nets needed help at the point guard position and as I mentioned earlier, this is somewhat of a bargain.

NBA: Did Amar’e Stoudemire Throw a Shot at Carmelo Anthony? Carmelo Responds

Jeremy Lin went from an undrafted unknown player to a household name after breaking out during the 2011-12 season with the New York Knicks.  With Carmelo Anthony injured, Lin rose to the occasion, becoming the new star of the team and even earning the name Linsanity.  When Anthony returned, there were reports that he didn’t like Lin and that the two couldn’t play together. After just 35 games with the Knicks, the Houston Rockets offered Lin a three-year, $25 million contract with a “poison pill” that Knicks decided not to match.  Lin and Anthony’s former teammate Amar’e Stoudemire, who now plays for the Miami Heat, commented on the situation prior to his return to Madison Square Garden on Sunday.

Lebron James has been known as a great defender his entire career. To the best of my memory, I don’t remember any player ever breaking Bron’s ankles with a crossover or making him look bad in general. Last night it almost happened and of all players to do it to him, it was Jeremy Lin.

NBA: Michael Jordan Thinks Jeremy Lin Will Be the Hornets ‘Biggest Acquisition’

Michael Jordan still holds the title as the greatest basketball player but his judgement as an exec and surveyor of NBA talent continues to be questionable.  The Charlotte Hornets owner likes what he sees from their new acquisition, Jeremy Lin and made a big proclamation.

Jeremy Lin certainly doesn’t look like the average NBA player.  In fact the new Charlotte Hornet couldn’t even get into the facility because security didn’t know who he was.  Rather than sulk, Lin decided to laugh at his differences and created this hilarious “How to Fit in the NBA” video.
