I find this to be kind of weird because I would swear Justin Bieber or some other young male has appeared at number one on the charts before with their debut album but apparently not! No contesting Billboard because they know better than all of us, and they have confirmed that “American Idol” winner Scotty McCreery’s debut album “Clear as Day,” bows at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 197k. McCreery actually beats out Omarion for the youngest male to debut at number one, when his album “O” entered at number 1 in 2005 when he was 20. Congrats, Scott! Jay-Z Speaks On J. Cole’s First Week Sales
Yesterday afternoon, news broke that Jay-Z’s protege and flagship artist on his Roc Nation imprint debuted with huge numbers for his first album. “Cole World: The Sideline Story” sold 218k units, making it the number one album in the country. Jay gave Cole a feature for the record and obviously gave him his start by signing him and having him appear on the Blueprint 3 album, but other than that…there was no major push on Jay’s behalf.
