Sports: U.S. Indicts World Soccer Officials in Alleged $150 Million FIFA Bribery Scandal
The world collectively said FINALLY! The Justice Department unsealed a 47 count indictment early Wednesday charging 14 world soccer figures, including officials of FIFA, with racketeering, bribery, money laundering and fraud. Four of those accused, including two sports marketing companies, have already pleaded guilty and are likely to be cooperating.
NFL: Plaxico Burress Indicted on Charges For Issuing a Bad Check & Failure to Pay Taxes
Former NFL star Plaxico Burress could find himself in jail yet again. Burress has been indicted on charges he failed to pay $47,903 in New Jersey income taxes, authorities said Thursday.

4:45pm EST UPDATE: According to tweets from various New York news outlets at a press conference earlier today, 21 firearms were confiscated during yesterday’s raid. The “Hot N*gga” rapper has reportedly plead not guilty to conspiracy to commit 2nd degree murder, conspiracy to commit 2nd degree assault, gun and drug charges. The full list is also in the gallery. His bail is currently set at $2 million. The GS9 crew – which NYPD say are members of the Crips – had been under investigation for two years before they were arrested. Special Narcotics Prosecutor Bridget Brennan detailed how the sale of crack cocaine supplied funds for the crew to purchase firearms, and reportedly called the guys “mindless thugs.”
NFL: Former Saints Player Darren Sharper Indicted For Rape In New Orleans!
Former NFL safety Darren Sharper was officially indicted for rape in New Orleans, which stems from an alleged incident involving two women in 2013. He was indicted on two counts of aggravated rape and one count of simple rape. Police believe two other men were involved in the rape as well. Sharper’s alleged accomplice, Erik Nunez, was indicted on two counts of aggravated rape and one count of obstruction of justice. A Sheriff’s deputy has also been tied to the incident, Brandon Licciardi who was indicted on three counts of human trafficking and obstruction of justice. This is just the tip of the iceberg for Sharper who is currently locked up in Los Angeles on rape allegations there and he also is facing rape accusations in Arizona! If all of these are true this guy needs to never see the light of day as a free man again.
NFL: While In Jail, Aaron Hernandez is Indicted For Assault & Threatening To Kill Officer
It just gets worse for Aaron Hernandez. While we still seem to be quite a ways away from his murder trial beginning for his alleged involvement in the murder of Odin Lloyd, Hernandez is racking up other charges and jail time as well. The District Attorney announced the former NFL star was indicted yesterday for assaulting another inmate as well as threatening the life of a corrections officer. Even if he somehow is to wind up beating the murder case down the road, these charges alone will keep him in prison for a while. Hit the jump.
