Mayor Michael Bloomberg is blaming Apple for the crime increase, saying that if it weren’t for a growth in theft of iPhones and iPads in New York City that crime would in fact be down. The Mayor cited an increase in thefts of the popular devices as the key thing raising the New York City Crime Index this year, but goes on to show that though crime is up, this has also been one historically one of the safest years for other reasons.
