We just celebrated his birthday a few months back, however this is a historical figure who could never be mentioned enough. Today marks the 45th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s assassination. A hero who was heavily involved in the civil rights movement spoke out and allowed others who were too afraid, to have a voice. In his last speech, “I’ve been to the Mountaintop” MLK mentioned, “Longevity has its place,” and he may not have had it in life (some would say), but he will forever have it after death. (Video + Photo) Rosa Parks Memorial Statue Was Revealed Today At U.S Capital
This is awesome! Another civil rights pioneer will be seen within the walls of the U.S. Capital for decades to come. This really is one of my heroes. The statue of Parks, 9 feet tall and in bronze, will be in Statuary Hall, where the House of Representatives met in the early 1800s. A niece and a longtime friend of Parks assisted the President and a few congressional leaders pull off the shroud that covered the statue. It’s perfect too. I say it signifies who this woman really was. Strong, hard, stood well in her position, and posture up straight with confidence. I LOVE IT. Drop down bottom and check it out.

If we had more men like this in today’s age, I’m sure that the reckless killings would be in the lesser digits. An iconic leader known for standing up and allowing people like myself to be heard as well as his role in the advancement of civil rights for all man would have been celebrating his 84th birthday if he were still alive. (Video) So Sad: Hurricane Sandy Hero Drowns In Mexico
A young surfer that was known for rescuing several people stranded by Hurricane Sandy– apparently drowned this week off the coast of Puerto Rico. According to the AP, “A police statement Sunday has identified the tourist as 23-year-old Dylan Smith, whose body was found floating Sunday morning near his surfboard in waters off Maria’s Beach in the western Puerto Rican community of Rincon.
