Auto: Camaro’s Will Now Be Made In Detroit!

General Motors (GM) announced just a short while ago today that they will be moving production of the new Camaro to Lansing, Michigan from Oshawa, Ontario Canada. Improvements in production at the plant in Michigan was one of the reasons for the move according to GM. The Canadian Auto Workers union was upset with the move, saying it will cost jobs and will reduce production at the plant, but at the end of the day I like the move because a classic American car should be produced in the U.S. The new Camaro is not expected until either 2015 or 2016. Auto Talk: GM recalling 67k Chevy Malibu, Pontiac G6 and Saturn Aura models in Canada

General Motors is recalling a total of 67,414 sedans in Canada for power steering failures. The campaign covers 2005, 2006 and 2008 Chevrolet Malibu and Malibu Maxx models as well as Pontiac G6 vehicles. The 2008 Saturn Aura is also included in the recall. Transport Canada says while power steering may fail, drivers will still be able to maintain control of their vehicle with additional steering effort. Owners will be notified of the failure by a chime and an illuminated warning light on the instrument panel. Funk Flex

(Video) Auto Talk: GM study watches drivers of autonomous vehicles

Like it or not, autonomous vehicles are on the way, and much is being done to study their integration into the world’s transportation networks. As part of its own development of driver assistance systems, General Motors has begun to look driver behavior behind the wheels of self-driving vehicles; innovations like Cadillac semi-autonomous Super Cruise are designed to “ease the driver’s workload” on the highway, but it will be good to know what drivers plan on doing to occupy their time. Auto Talk:Holden to maintain its identity within GM

Unbeknownst to us, observers of Holden, General Motors’ Australian subsidiary that has helped The General make some of its finest product, have wondered if the austral brand’s identity would get swallowed up in the push to create a cohesive, global Chevrolet. Three products headed to the antipodes have aroused the question: although the Colorado pickup (pictured in Holden concept form) and SUV wear Holden badges, both have the Chevrolet twin-bar grille, and the Holden Volt has the twin-bar grille and a mashup of the Holden and Chevy logos.
