NFL: Gary Kubiak Officially Steps Down as Head Coach of Denver Broncos

Gary Kubiak has officially stepped down as the head coach of the Denver Broncos, the team announced Monday morning.  The announcement comes a day after Kubiak told his team he was stepping down for health reasons following the Broncos’ 24-6 victory over the Oakland Raiders on Sunday.  Being a head coach is a very physically demanding job, and Kubiak has battled with his health over the years.  Many of his players and the Broncos staff were sad to see him go.

(Video) NFL: Houston Texans Fire Head Coach Gary Kubiak

No surprise here! The Texans fired coach Gary Kubiak today after they lost to the miserable Jaguars last night. For a team that had legit Super Bowl aspirations before the season to currently be 2-11 including losing 11 games straight, you knew eventually someone was going to lose their job. Hard to place much blame on him when the players have all underachieved, especially quarterback Matt Schaub, but when you are the coach it comes with the territory. At this rate, I will also not be surprised if Schaub is released at the end of this season. The team is already focusing on Case Keenum at the position. Kubiak is a very smart football guy, so I don’t expect him to be out of a job for too long. Hit the jump for more.
