A lot of people were amazed that Gordon Hayward received a max contract but last night he helped prove that he’s worth it. Usually it’s LeBron James with the chasedown but last night he got a taste of his own medicine. During the Cavaliers game against the Jazz, Gordon Hayward sprinted down the court and blocked James’ shot, then ran down and dunked on the other end. If that wasn’t enough, he also hit the game-winning buzzerbeater!

Last night the New York Knicks took on the Phoenix Suns without starters Carmelo Anthony and Raymond Felton. Anthony suffered from soreness in his right knee while Felton sprained the pinky finger in his shooting hand. Both injuries were sustained during the Knicks Christmas Day loss to the Los Angeles Lakers. Luckily for the Knicks Jason Kidd and J.R. Smith stepped up big time. Read more after the jump. Shay Marie
(Video) NBA: Joe Johnson Hits Buzzer-Beater to Defeat Pistons in Double Overtime
What initially appeared to be a snoozer turned out to be an exciting game as the Brooklyn Nets and Detroit Pistons went into double overtime. Shockingly they weren’t saved by superstar point guard Deron Williams who in fact has been struggling offensively this season. Williams actually is shooting 38% from the field and wasn’t much of a factor during the overtime periods. Who did finally step up was their big acquisition Joe Johnson formerly known as “Average Joe” and “Ski Mask Joe” for obvious reasons. (Video) NBA: Trailblazers’ Nicolas Batum Hits Game-Winner In Double OT Vs. Cavaliers
The Portland Trailblazers have been thriving off the plays of rookie Damian Lilliard and also Nicolas Batum. Last night as the Cleveland Cavaliers took them to double overtime, Batum came up with the clutch shot to give them the 118-117 win. Batum actually hit a game-winner in the first overtime of Saturday night’s Blazers-Cavs tilt, but it didn’t beat the buzzer and was called off.
