Auto Talk: Dreamworks will make Need for Speed film
It’s official: Need for Speed is going to be a movie, and it’s been “fast-tracked” to arrive in theaters in 2014. Paramount-owned Dreamworks had been talking to Electronic Arts about a cinematic treatment of the video game franchise, and the two were able to close a deal. In addition to the standard and new Limited models, Ford’s freshening of the 2013 F-150 has extended to the no-job-too-big SVT Raptor, as well. Look closely and you’ll see the new (optional) high-intensity discharge headlamps, the special beadlock wheels available through Ford Racing and the brand-new exterior color, called Terrain. Auto Talk: Toyota Avalon gets 40-MPG hybrid model for 2013
Given that the 2013 Avalon shares a platform with the new Lexus ES, this news should come as no surprise: Toyota’s largest sedan is getting its own hybrid variant for the first time ever. Judging by these first photos, carspotters will have to squint hard to tell that they’re looking at a hybrid, as there are only a few small badges and blue-tinted lenses as a tip-off to this vehicle’s gas-electric motivation. Auto Talk: Land Rover and Bowler consummate their marriage
They’ve had a long-distance romance for a while, now their relationship is official: Bowler and Land Rover have signed an agreement that gives LR more presence in the hardcore off-road arena and gives Bowler direct access to parts and engineering. The move isn’t all that surprising: last year Bowler took on Steve Haywood, previously a chief engineer at Land Rover, to lead the production of its new vehicle. Funk Flex
