Just when you thought the San Francisco 49ers couldn’t get any better, they made a big offseason splash. They acquired Super Bowl winning wide receiver Anquan Boldin from the Baltimore Ravens and added him to their pistol offense of Vernon Davis, Frank Gore, Michael Crabtree and young multi-talented quarterback Colin Kaepernick. Their defense was already pretty good, ranked 3rd overall but everyone knows they need a new cornerback. Many speculated they would make a run and trade for Pro Bowl CB Darrelle Revis from the Jets but that has died down. Instead they are contenders for Nnamdi Asomugha who was a hot commodity in free agency two years ago but was released from the Philadelphia Eagles after failing to produce. Read more after the jump.
NFL: Atlanta Falcons Get Even Better
For a team that didn’t need much help as it is, things just got even better for the Atlanta Falcons. Yesterday they signed former St. Louis Rams running back Steven Jackson. The deal is worth $12 million for 3 years. The Falcons made the NFC championship game this past season before losing to the 49ers, which should have teams in the NFC worried because this team didn’t need much, and now they landed the best running back available. NBA: Brandon Jennings Makes Demands In Order For the Bucks to Keep Him During Free Agency
There were prior reports that the Milwaukee Bucks weren’t making any offers to point guard Brandon Jennings. In fact his name was mentioned in a couple of trade scenarios. However it turns out the Bucks do want to retain Jennings but he has some demands of his own. Read more after the jump.
NFL: Patriots Reportedly Have Interest in WR Mike Wallace
One of the biggest names in the free agent pool is Steelers wide receiver Mike Wallace. While it’s against the rules for teams to agree to contracts with free agents, it is okay to admit interest in the players. NBA: Atlanta Hawks Taking Trade Offers For Josh Smith
Josh Smith is among the names most frequently mentioned when discussing trade rumors most notably in association with the Lakers and Pau Gasol. While Gasol is sitting out with a foot injury, Smith is playing a pretty high level but is also nearing the end of his contract. While the Hawks don’t want to let him go they also aren’t willing to pay him the max contract he feels he deserves. So of course they’ve begun to listen to trade offers. Read more after the jump.
