President Obama announced that there will be some serious budget cuts happening soon. As the President announced that these cuts would be happening, he kept saying the cuts were “unnecessary” and “dumb.” Obama has pointed the finger at the Republicans in Congress, blaming the cuts on them. Election 2012: Did You Know Romney Wants To Cut Disaster Relief Agencies Like FEMA

In light of the preparation for Hurricane Sandy, I figured now would be a good time to inform you that if Mitt Romney because President, he plans on cutting disaster relief agencies like FEMA which are crucial in times like these. FEMA offers relief in every major emergency situation including Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Irene, and Sandy if we should need it. If Mitt becomes President, he plans on leaving only 4% of the budget to disaster relief and in 2011 he called leaving more than that percent to disaster relief “immoral.” Read more below. Julie A.


FEMA Assistance Extended For Irene Victims

FEMA assistance for Hurricane Irene damage has been extended. The hurricane hit back in August but people are still struggling with the damage Irene caused. People effected by the disaster will not have until November 30 to register for disaster assistance. People can register three different ways for relief. Find out more after the jump. @Julie1205


Texas Family Told To Return $23,000 FEMA

A family who received financial aid from FEMA in 2008 after Hurricane Ike flooded their home is now being told that they have to give it back! After applying and filling out all of the documentation Clay Gates received a letter that his family qualified for $23,000 of aid.
