Yasiin Bey Turned Away From South African Court For Refusing To Remove His Turban

Brooklyn born rapper Yasiin Bey – formerly known as Mos Def- moved himself out of the United States to Cape Town, South Africa back in 2013.At the top of the year, (January 15th) he was arrested and banned from the country for five years after presenting a ‘world passport’ when trying to leave the South African after overstaying his visitors permit. The ‘world passport’ better known as, “World Government of World Citizens” is not recognized by the country. Yasiin Bey showed up for his court hearing Tuesday (March 8th) however was turned away for wearing a turban. According to TMZ reports, refused to take it off and left court, showing up later with a lose scarf covering his head. So far no word on court proceedings. Stay tuned for details…..


Yasiin Bey Arrested In South Africa For Fake Passport

Brooklyn born rapper Yasiin Bey – formerly known as Mos Def- moved himself out of the United States back in 2013 and has been residing in Cape Town, South Africa since. It has been reported Friday (January 15th) that he’s been arrested and banned from the country for five years for presenting a fake passport when trying to leave the South African after overstaying his visitors permit. According to The Home Affairs ministerial spokesperson Mayihlome Tshwete, who tweeted out information about Yasiin Bey’s arrest, he came to South Africa legally using his United States passport, however has overstayed the length of his visitor’s permit. When attempting to depart South Africa, he presented “world passport” which turned out to be a false document and now has 14 days to leave the country with the correct paperwork. South Africa’s Home Affairs spokesperson admits he’s a fan but “the law is the law.” Hopefully this can all get worked out! Check out the gallery for more.
