Yesterday, The Fader announced that Erykah Badu would be on the cover of it’s next magazine. Along with that announcement she also dropped a new song. She dropped some bars over Wintertime’s “Thru It All.” She gets a few things off her chest and lets the world know that she’s still top dog. Listen to the track after the jump.
In 2015, Erykah Badu responded to a fan who’d asked if she listens to Azealia Banks, and wrote, “Tried.” Simple enough, but of course because Azealia is Azealia, she couldn’t take it in stride. She responded to Badu with, “…. Jealousy,” and then a brief exchange occurred, with Azealia actually wanting to fight Badu. SMH! Now over a year later, the pair have buried the hatchet, after Badu decided to extend an olive branch to her younger peer. “sis. 1 thing I know 4sho about YOU is that you r an advocate 4 your folks. For that I humbly apologize,” she tweeted. Banks then accepted the apology, an added, “i apologize for all the stupid things I said in response. I honestly look up to you and think your incredible.” Check out the full exchange in the gallery!
Erykah Badu recently made a comment on Twitter about young girls and their dress code. Badu spoke on a article she read about high school girls having to lower their skirts so that male teachers are not distracted. She went on to say she agrees with the rule
As part of the Future Project initiative, which helps bring some brightness into the lives of inner city children with some rough upbringings, Erykah Badu surprised students at Malcolm X Shabazz High School in Newark, NJ this week. Appearing in the cafeteria as the kids entered for what they thought would be a normal lunch, Ms. Badu gave them quite the treat with a live performance of “On and On”, her remix of Kanye’s “Real Friends” and a even a preview of some unreleased music! Check out the video below. For more info on the Future Project, head here.
Looks like Erykah Badu has a new bae! Over the weekend, a man by the name of Carl Jones shared a few photos with the singer, with captions leaving zero question as to whether they’re an item. I did my Googles real quick, and according to IMDB, Carl is “a producer and actor, known for The Boondocks (2005), Freaknik: The Musical (2010) and Black Dynamite (2011).” Sounds like a dope power couple to me!
