Legendary DJ Funk Flex has teamed with publishing giant Simon & Schuster and Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Karen Hunter to release a book of untold stories about the late Notorious B.I.G. An instrumental part of Biggie’s early success, Funk Flex actually gave Biggie his very first major interview on Hot 97 back in June of 1994, which you can listen to here. “The song “Who Shot Ya” was originally an intro for Mary J. Blige’s album,” Flex reveals in an excerpt from the book. “Uptown/MCA said it was too hard. The song in its original form had a verse from Big, Keith Murray and LL Cool J, though LL never did his verse.
