Everyone was surprised when the Denver Nuggets fired the Coach of the Year, George Karl. While many thought it was because the Nuggets fell short yet again in the playoffs, there were reports that Karl demanded a contract extension. According to Karl that report is untrue. Read more after the jump.

The Denver Nuggets are having one of the best seasons in team history. They are currrently in third place in the western conference and are a very hard team to beat at home. All of that is due in part to the play of Danilo Gallinari who is the second leading scorer on the team. But things may take a turn for the worse now after Gallinari hurt his knee badly last night against the Mavericks and had to be carried off. Team officials fear he tore his ACL, which would sideline him until sometime next season. With leading scorer Ty Lawson already out for a while with a separate injury, the Nuggets all of a sudden went from sitting in a good spot, to serious worry mode about their chances in the playoffs.
