Yesterday (July 23rd) marks the third year anniversary of singer Amy Winehouse’s tragic death. Although the songbird struggled with substance abuse and many other inner demons, she was still a very talented star. To celebrate her life, fans from all over visited her memorial site and left a bunch of cigarettes, alcohol and drug paraphernalia at her old house in London. According to her mother Janis Winehouse, she’s completely chill with what fans are leaving at the site–regardless of the fact those are all things that contributed to her daughter’s death (alcohol poisoning.) Spike Lee Releases Video Combining Tragic NYPD Chokehold Of Father & Scene From ‘Do The Right Thing’
The viral video of 43 year old Eric Garner dying at the hands of a chokehold placed by the NYPD has hit the heart of many, including legendary director and NY’er Spike Lee. Spike Lee has released a video mash up of the tragic footage caught, mixed with the notorious scene from ‘Do The Right Thing’; where Radio Raheim dies at the hands of officers. At Least 40 Shot and 4 Killed In Chicago This Weekend Alone!
This is really just tragic. Gun violence in Chicago is really getting out of hand this summer. On top of the 82 who were shot and 14 who were killed during 4th of July weekend this year, another 40 people were shot, killing 4, this weekend alone. Find out more after the jump.
