As today lands the 20th year anniversary of Tupac’s death, Kurupt and Daz Dillinger speak on why Tupac would never accept the way the hip-hop game is going now.
Earlier we reported that the Tupac biopic “All Eyez on Me” was in danger and being pushed back but that is not the case. At least that’s what Daz says.
Houston representer Eliot Ness is back again with his latest release “Small Time” featuring willie D and Scarface plus Daz Dillinger from the Dogg Pound. Look out for Eliott Ness he will be releasing more tracks in the future.
The success of the N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton inspired many other musicians with a story to tell to attempt to bring their life to the silver screen. One of those people was West Coast rapper, Daz Dillinger. Daz wanted to pick up where Straight Outta Compton left off and dive deeper into the storylines of himself, Snoop Dogg, Tha Dogg Pound and Death Row as a whole, and wasted NO time getting the ball rolling on the project once the idea was birthed. Despite having no real funding or film company behind him, Daz assembled a cast and began filming Dogg Pound 4 Life early last month…but it seems he’s already hit a bump in the road.
Looks like these guys are wasting no time! After the success of Straight Outta Compton, it got the wheels turning on more biopics, and one of the first to be thrown into the pot was Dogg Pound 4 Life. Daz Dillinger wanted to pick up where Straight Outta Compton left off and dive deeper into the storylines of himself, Snoop Dogg, Tha Dogg Pound and more, and he has since assembled his cast to begin shooting. They do not have funding or a production home yet, however, so there is no guarantee this will make it to the silver screen. As previously reported, Dr. Dre’s son Curtis Young will be portraying his father. None of the cast of SOC will join, though they did reportedly get Cube’s blessing to go ahead with the flick. As for the rest of the cast: Daz is played by Azad Arnaud, Suge Knight is played by Reggie Noble, The Lady of Rage will reportedly play herself, Tupac played by DaDa and Kurupt played by Melvin Jackson Jr. from The Wire. Last night, the group recorded their first scene at an LA recording studio, where Suge, Tupac and Daz record “Ambitionz Az a Ridah,” and “I Ain’t Mad at Cha” in a 24-hour period.
