Katy Perry Sets Record On Pop Charts With Juicy J-Assisted “Dark Horse”
Katy Perry has officially broken the record for the most weeks at number one in the 21-year history of Billboard’s Pop Songs radio airplay chart. The tipping point was her current Juicy J-assisted single, “Dark Horse,” which just spent its fourth week on top, upping her career count to 46 weeks in the number one spot with her various singles over the years! She takes the crown from Mariah Carey, who previously held the record with 45 weeks. Check out the top 10 list to see who else ranks pretty high in the single-topping charts below. Congrats, KP!
Katy Perry & Juicy J Are On Top
Katy Perry has yet another hit on her hands, and Juicy J is riding the wave right along with her. Their collab “Dark Horse” off Katy’s recent album PRISM has shot to number one, becoming KP’s ninth number one single…thanks in part to their performance of the song at the Grammys on Sunday. However, with the chart tally closing on Sunday night, we’ll see the full impact of their performance on next week’s charts. “Dark Horse” hitting number one brings Katy into a five-way tie for 10th place among artists with the most toppers in the chart’s 55-year history. The Beatles lead with 20 number ones, followed by Mariah Carey (18), Michael Jackson, Rihanna (13 each), Madonna, the Supremes (12 each), Whitney Houston (11), Janet Jackson and Stevie Wonder (10 each). Katy Perry and Juicy J hit up the iHeartRadio stage at the MGM Grand in Vegas to perform their “Dark Horse” song for the first time ever. The track is set to appear on Katy’s Prism album that’s hitting stores October 22nd. Of course Juicy was hyping up the crowd by yelling, “Turn Up.” Luckily for him, it worked!
