NBA: Danny Granger, Glen Davis & Darren Collison Will Opt-Out of Clippers Contracts

The Los Angeles Clippers picked up Glen Davis and Danny Granger midseason, giving them minimum contracts with a player option for the second year.  Darren Collison was added as well.  Each player added depth to the Clippers and are now expected to opt-out and seek bigger deals.

We’re coming down to the last stretch of the season as teams are either fighting for a playoff spot or tanking for a lottery pick.  As the playoff teams prepare for the postseason they’re also very cautious of their star players particularly surrounding injuries.

NBA: Doc Rivers Says ‘Ideally’ Danny Granger is a Starter

Danny Granger was traded from the Indiana Pacers to the Philadelphia 76ers.  He and the Sixers later agreed to a buyout and he signed with the Los Angeles Clippers.  It remains yet to be seen how effective he can be while healthy as he’s had many setbacks while with the Pacers.  Clippers coach Doc Rivers however believes Granger is “ideally” a starter.

NBA: Report, Danny Granger Will Sign With Clippers Today!

The Western Conference in the NBA just got a little more interesting. According to reports, Danny Granger, who will clear waivers today at 5pm, will sign with the Los Angeles Clippers and expects to play Saturday when they play the New Orleans Pelicans. After the Pacers traded Granger last week to the terrible Philadelphia 76ers, he immediately began working on a buyout. Let’s face it, who wants to go from a championship contender in the Pacers, to a joke of a team this year in Philly. The Heat & Spurs seemed like the more likely destinations for Granger, until the past few days when the Clippers seemed to be more involved. He is not the player he used to be a few years ago, but adding his ability in Los Angeles definitely makes them even more of a serious threat to Oklahoma City & San Antonio in the west. The Deal should be completed by this evening.

NBA: Danny Granger Wants to Join the Heat But They Prefer Someone Else

Danny Granger was traded from the Indiana Pacers to the Philadelphia 76ers.  Of course he was unhappy with the trade going from a championship contending team to a team tanking for the top lottery pick.  The Pacers found Granger disposable after injuries sidelined him and Paul George emerged in his absence.  Granger has made it quite clear that he doesn’t want to stay with the 76ers and they’re expected to buy him out so he can become a free agent.  His destination of choice is the Miami Heat but they have someone else in mind.

Most NBA fans saw this day coming, but if you are the players involved it doesn’t make it any easier. Ever since the emergence of Paul George for the Pacers while Danny Granger has missed the better part of the past two seasons, the writing was on the wall for George to replace him as the star of the team. With the Pacers playing so well with and without Granger, the trade they made yesterday only made sense. George, who was pretty much mentored by Granger ever since the Pacers drafted him made a heartfelt post to his Instagram shortly after the trade. Hit the jump.
