Posted by Sabrina B. @gametimegirl When Yahoo Sports found out that Juan Pablo Montoya’s car that crashed into — and blew up — the jet drier at Daytona was headed to Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s graveyard of wrecked race cars on his property, they were intrigued. When they found out that Jimmie Johnson’s Daytona car, the one that was initially penalized 25 points for C-post violations before the penalty was overturned on appeal, was headed there too, they got really curious.
Posted by Sabrina B. @gametimegirl The fiery crash we witnessed at this year’s Daytona 500 was one of the most breathtaking sights in NASCAR history. There have been countless wrecks and blazes over the years, but never has a car slammed into the track jet dryer and caused that type of explosion.

Earnhardt was killed in an accident on the last lap of the 2001 Daytona 500. The speedway considered various ways to mark the 10-year anniversary of Earnhardt’s death.
