Remember back in 2012 when Lil Wayne partnered with Moutain Dew to open up a skatepark in New Orleans for the youth of the city? Well, now almost two years later what was supposed to be a safe haven for kids is about to shut down but New Orleans residents don’t want to see that happen and are taking action by starting a Kickstarter campaign to keep the skatepark open.
WTF?! All Of Red Lobster Chain May Be Closing For Good?
Better stock up on those beloved biscuits! Red Lobster may be closing its doors for good soon, or at the very least, completely remixing the chain. The company that owns them, Darden, announced today they will either be selling or spinning off the chain, as well as suspending the opening of new Olive Garden locations and slow down new locations for LongHorn Steakhouses, which they also own. Last quarter, Darden experienced a 31 percent drop in net earnings, and it’s expected to continue, as consumers have been favoring cheaper, quicker eateries like Chipotle instead. The planned Red Lobster spinoff still awaits final approval from the company’s board, so it probably won’t happen until early fiscal 2015.
Update: Hurricane Sandy Shuts Down Transportation, Holland And Battery Tunnels To Close At 2 p.m.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo has announced that the Hugh Carey Tunnel (Brooklyn-Battery) and the Holland Tunnel will close on 2 p.m. Monday as a precaution against flooding. The Queens-Midtown Tunnel will remain open until further notice. If winds hit 60 mph the MTA and Port Authority will close bridges also. Click below to find out more. WiL Major
123 New York Schools May Be Getting The Boot!
The New York Department of Education is handing out warnings to 123 struggling schools saying get it together or adios. These schools have until 2015 to make high improvements with tests and graduation rates. Maybe they should hire some new teachers. What do you think, is it the teachers or the students? Detroit Closing Half of Their City’s Schools!!
State education officials have ordered the emergency financial manager for Detroit Public Schools to immediately implement a plan that balances the district’s books by closing half its schools. There is going to be some overcrowding for quite a while but hopefully the end goal is met as quickly as possible!! @MarisaMendez
