NBA: LeBron James Responds to Report that Cavs Have ‘No Interest’ in Trade for Carmelo Anthony

LeBron James said the Cleveland Cavaliers need a “playmaker” and he and Carmelo Anthony are close friends, but a report released yesterday said the Cavs passed on the Knicks offer to trade Anthony for Kevin Love.  James is not only the star player, but many consider him the GM of the team, orchestrating and approving all trades, so what did he have to say about passing on Melo?

NBA Report: Knicks Tried to Trade Carmelo Anthony but Cavs Had ‘No Interest’

So there are three things here. 1. Everyone remembers the big hoopla with the Knicks seemingly trying to oust Carmelo Anthony, but in a meeting with president Phil Jackson, Anthony reaffirmed his commitment to the team.  2. LeBron James recently went on an expletive-filled tirade about the Cavaliers needing a playmaker.  3. LeBron and Carmelo are really close friends who want to play together at some point in their careers.  So you put all that together and one would think sending Melo to the Cavs would be a go, but alas it is not.
