What Does A$AP Rocky’s Fashion & The Civil Rights Movement Have In Common?!

Some people just want their credit – A$AP Rocky is surely one of them. After the Harlem cat’s latest single, “Multiply” was released, the streets were buzzing due to a certain bar he spit on the track. Taking shots at Hood By Air and Been Trill clothing brands, Rocky says, “HBA s— is weak, you can keep that.” He believes that while people have jacked his style, they haven’t properly sited the source. Rocky was asked about the shot fired, and pretty much compared his struggle with fashion growing up to the the civil rights movement. Okayyy… Hit the jump for more.

IFWT Remembers MLK On His Birthday!

MLK was born in Atlanta, Georgia. King, both a Baptist minister and civil-rights activist, had a seismic impact on race relations in the United States, beginning in the mid-1950s. Among many efforts, King headed the SCLC. RIP LMK.

(Audio) IFWT Remembers Martin Luther King On The Day Of His Passing

We just celebrated his birthday a few months back, however this is a historical figure who could never be mentioned enough. Today marks the 45th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.’s assassination. A hero who was heavily involved in the civil rights movement spoke out and allowed others who were too afraid, to have a voice. In his last speech, “I’ve been to the Mountaintop” MLK mentioned, “Longevity has its place,” and he may not have had it in life (some would say), but he will forever have it after death. One of the worlds’ top heros in my eyes. R.I.P. Martin Luther King Jr. Drop down bottom for more on MLK.

Important Day In Black History

On December 1, 1955, at around 6p.m. after a long day of work, Rosa Parks got on a bus to head home. Parks refused to give up her seat on a  segregated bus in Montgomery, Alabama, on her way from work at the Montgomery Fair Department Store. Contrary to what is often taught in schools, Rosa was not seated in the front and was in the colored section, but there were no “white” seats and the driver of the bus demanded that she move for a white man. Rosa’s refusal to move to a different seat started the Montgomery Bus Boycott, which many people consider the start of the Civil Rights Movement. Funk Flex
