All of the crazy speculation as to who “Becky with the good hair” is in Beyonce’s song “Sorry”, turns out to be just something made up as the songwriter comes forward.
All of the crazy speculation as to who “Becky with the good hair” is in Beyonce’s song “Sorry”, turns out to be just something made up as the songwriter comes forward.
Dame Dash’s ex-wife, designer Rachel Roy, brought the heat on herself when she posted a photo with the caption “Good hair don’t care” moments after Beyoncé sang about “Becky with the good hair.” Since then, she’s endured relentless trolling from BeyHive members, and she believes they were even behind her Gmail and iCloud accounts being hacked, as well as her cell phone number being changed without her permission.
She came. She saw. She conquered. Damn Beyonce! Back at it again topping the charts with her music. Bey earned herself a spot on the Billboard 200 charts for the sixth time for her latest ablbum ‘Lemonade.’ YOU GO BEY! Read the rest of the story after the jump.
I’ll tell ya – that Beyoncé is a marketing genius! Whether “Becky with the good hair” exists or not (I’m going with the latter,) it’s ALL people are talking about, thus keeping her and Lemonade the hottest topic of the moment. Win! As rumors circulate and people try to dig to figure out if Rita Ora is Becky, if Rachel Roy is Becky, if someone else is Becky, Bey’s father, Mathew Knowles, tells E!, “She’s talking about you!”
Amongst the BeyHive’s attack on Rachel Roy, another name came up on the list of potential Becky’s with the good hair: Rita Ora. The singer had been signed to Roc Nation for quite some time, and only just left earlier this year…on VERY bad terms. It was odd, considering how much time and money was invested into her from Jay Z personally, walking her into radio stations and having her with him often back in 2012 and 2013. After some digging, the BeyHive uncovered other odd “coincidences” – like Rita wearing the same dress from Bey’s “Formation” video this week (after Lemonade dropped,) and posting to Snapchat wearing a bra with lemons on it and what appeared to be a necklace with a J. (Upon further inspection, the letter is an R. Also, I believe that this is an OLD Snap that has resurfaced, as evidenced by the time stamp in the corner that’s no longer part of the app.)
Despite being the reason the rumors started in the first place, Rachel Roy is tired of all of the attention surrounding her possibly being Beyoncé’s “Becky with the good hair.” “I want to put the speculation and rumors to rest,” Rachel said in a statement to PEOPLE. “My Instagram post was meant to be fun and lighthearted, it was misunderstood as something other than that. There is no validity to the idea that the song references me personally. There is no truth to the rumors.” Hit the jump for the rest.
