In December, Will Smith revealed that the third installment in the Bad Boys franchise was close to shooting and a release date was announced for January 18th, 2018. Now it looks like that’s definitely not happening after the writer/director of the project just quit.

According to TMZ reports, actor Will Smith and producer Jerry Bruckheimer have agreed to make “Bad Boys 3.” Sources reveal the Smith and Bruckeimer have talked for several hours this week about the project. Over a four hour dinner on Tuesday and a long lunch Wednesday, the two worked on several details including contracts and even working on a potential script. TMZ photogs caught up Bruckheimer coming out of lunch, he was pretty tight lipped about the film, but all other signs point to a done deal. More below.

The moment we’ve all been waiting for has finally arrived – the REAL conformation that Bad Boys 3 AND Bad Boys 4 is making its way to a theater near you! To make you feel old real quick, it’s been 20 years since the original Bad Boys movie dropped featuring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. Luckily for die hard fans of the classic buddy cop film, Sony Pictures has announced that Bad Boys 3 will be released on February 17th of 2017 and just two years later on July 3rd, 2019, we can expect Bad Boys 4. They’ve not yet confirmed whether or not Will Smith and Martin Lawrence will be starring in the next two movies again, but hopefully they are. Sony also has a plethora of movies that are gearing up for release in the coming years including Ghostbusters, Resident Evil 6, Jumanji plus many, many more. Check out the full list below! There has been talk for some time now, but last evening on Conan, Martin Lawrence made the official announcement that Bad Boys 3 is in the works. “I just talked to Jerry [Bruckheimer] yesterday. He said it’s real,” says the comedian. “They’re working on a script, they’re getting closer…it all looks good.” Can you say – clutch! I will be there to watch this on opening night.
