That’s more than double what a lot of major albums have done first week out in a very long time…and only falls behind Lady Gaga (who clocked in at 1.1 million) for biggest opening week this year. Top 10 Album Sales Week Ending 8/14/11…Jay and Kanye Hit Number 1 and Break iTunes Records!!
As expected, the Throne rests comfortably at the number one spot on Billboard charts this week, after Yeezy and Jigga’s project pushed over 436k units in its debut. 321,000 of that number were online, marking the second-largest digital week ever (behind Lady Gaga) and breaking iTunes’ one-week sales record — with nearly 290,000 digital copies sold through them (the other downloads came from Amazon and other retailers).
