Yesterday was a huge day for J. Cole, as the rapper finally got to see his album hit stores…something he’d been waiting on since signing to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation imprint 2 years ago. It was a long day of interviews (with our very own Angie Martinez), autograph signings, live streaming and more…and he capped it off with a private album release party at a small venue in NYC. Caasi and I stopped in to congratulate Cole and have a few drinks. We walked over and spoke to him for a bit and let me tell you….that kid was SO happy. Such a monumental moment for him! It’s truly dope to see an artist get the shine he deserves!! The highlight of the night, however, came in the form of none other than Jay and Beyonce. The Roc boss stopped in to show some love to his protege with pregnant wifey in tow, but the pair didn’t stay for too long. I think the fact they came at all speaks volumes in itself, though. “Nice to see J. Cole and Jay talking,” Chuck Creekmur, CEO of AllHipHop.com tweeted from the VIP. “I suspect those first week #s are going to be sweet.” Perhaps now they can put those Jay x J beef rumors to bed! Congrats again, Cole! Marisa Mendez
