Chris Rock made history as the first black host of the Academy Awards back in 2005. The beloved comedian announced today he is returning for round two, and will be hosting this year’s telecast. He made the announcement via Twitter, stating “Look who’s back #Oscars” The Academy producers and CEO praised Rock for his talent and credentials calling him and industry MVP. Oscars producers David Hill and Reginald Hudlin said, “Comedian, actor, writer, producer, director, documentarian — he’s done it all,” adding, “He’s going to be a phenomenal Oscar host!” “Chris may be best known as a stand-up comic, but we think of him as a creative innovator in many other ways. He is unafraid in his artistry,” said Academy CEO Dawn Hudson. You can catch Chris Rock hosting the awards when it airs on February 28th.
