Drake missed the 2016 Billboard Music Awards last night, despite being up for a cool 11 awards. He even won one of them – Top Rap Artist – but he was doing something so much more important, so it’s totally understandable. Ya know, like playing golf with his friends……just a few blocks away from where the awards ceremony was taking place. Not sure if Drizzy was trying to make a statement, or maybe he just really, really had to fulfill the burning desire to play golf at that exact moment. Who knows! Rihanna and Ciara had quite the Twitter spat in 2011, when the two went at it over Ciara’s comment on E!’s Fashion Police. A back and forth ensued on the social network after CiCi mentioned on the show that Rih hadn’t been too nice to her the last time they’d seen each other, but they later made amends – though subtle shade still has made its way to social media every now and then. (You know Rih is the Shade Queen!)
Madonna Set To Honor Prince At 2016 Billboard Awards
Madonna has been tapped to pay homage to Prince at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards. There have been no further details released about the tribute, but knowing their close friendship, I think she will do it justice. Other performers for the show that night include Justin Bieber, Celine Dion, DNCE, Fifth Harmony with Ty Dolla $ign, The Go-Go’s, Demi Lovato, Shawn Mendes, Pink, Britney Spears, Troye Sivan and Nick Jonas with Tove Lo. Celine Dion will receive the ICON Award.
Ludacris & Ciara Will Host 2016 Billboard Music Awards + Nominees Announced
Is it 2016 or 2004? We can’t be sure, but all I know is I’m currently bumping “Oh” now after seeing both of those names in the same sentence. Ludacris and Ciara have been tapped as hosts of the 2016 Billboard Awards, going down Sunday, May 22 in Las Vegas. While this is CiCi‘s first year with hosting duties, Luda is a bit of a vet with two prior years under his belt. The nominees were announced by the pair on Good Morning America this morning, with additional nominees announced live via Billboard Music Award’s Facebook and Periscope following the show. Nominees are based on album and digital songs sales, radio airplay, streaming, touring and social engagement between March 23, 2015 through March 17, 2016. Find out who’s up for an award below!
