Pusha T and Birdman have a storied history, dating back to Clipse days in 05/06 when Push and Wayne (who was obviously very close to Birdman at the time) had issues. There has been slick talking between the YMCMB and G.O.O.D. Music camps for some years now (namely on Push’s side for the latter,) and it even includes a few diss tracks. (And yes, “New God Flow” was one of them.) As the empire at YMCMB crumbled late last year and into 2015, Push gloated at his “prophecy” a bit, proving that the tension was still very much prevalent. Now with his soon-to-be-released single “Untouchable,” he’s seemingly proving it once more.
Back in 2013, a 16 year-old went on a drunk driving rampage which ended in the deaths of four other teens. The driver, Ethan Couch dodged jail time with the defense he was suffering from “affluenza.” (Meaning, he was the product of wealthy and privileged parents and was never taught right from wrong.) Well, this case was the spark of inspiration for rapper, Mack Maine who wrote a song about it appropriately titled, Ethan Couch. The cover art for the track features a photo of a young boy, who they thought was Mr. Couch but turned out to be the wrong kid! Hit the jump for more details.
Jas Prince has been at odds with Cash Money for some time now, after he reportedly never received the royalties he’s due for bringing Drake to them. At this point, it seems the only way you get your money from Birdman and co. is by suing, so I guess Jas is on the right path! The Rap-A-Lot Records heir says in the lawsuit that Cash Money was to pay him 22% of all of Drake’s royalties, net profits and other advances – which now totals up to $11 million. The tricky part is – Drake was signed to Jas’ Aspire Music Group, and Jas says Wayne and Drake’s manager, Cortez Bryant, breached the original agreement by shuffling Drizzy over to Young Money from Cash Money. Unfortunately, due to Jas’ role with Aspire (I’m unsure of what that role is,) he can’t legally sue Cash Money, so now he’s asking the court to appoint a receiver to do so on his behalf. For their part, Cash Money denies they owe Jas 22% of anything. Wonder if he’ll get his coins!
Snoop Dogg, Birdman, Damon Dash, and Jermaine Dupri are all headed to the small screen for a brand-new BET reality series. It has been reported, that the reality show will begin shooting in November in LA and will feature the lives and companies these respected Hip-Hop moguls. The show has been signed on for 8-episodes and is slated to debut late 2016. So far no word on a title. Interested or nah? Sound off in the comments.
This is becoming a sticky situation. Birdman sending Lil Wayne birthday shout outs and beyond means absolutely NOTHING when money is involved. In fact, the messages are fueling the fire of the NOLA rapper. Not only has Wayne made attempts at signing Cash Money signee Chanel West Cost, but he’s also adding Drake, Nicki Minaj – two YM artists that Lil Wayne believes will hit the bricks from Ca$h Money soon – and Tyga to his on-going lawsuit against the hip-hop label.
