Macbook Airs 1 Flaw gets a fix!!!

The new MacBook Airs may have a lot of things going for them, but a matte screen unfortunately isn’t among them. The folks at TechRestore now say they have a solution to that shortcoming, however, and will gladly rip apart your shiny new Air and install a matte screen for $249. That screen will supposedly give you the same resolution, color depth and LED-backlighting as the factory installed one, and TechRestore promises to install a custom black bezel that “matches the look of the unibody MacBook Pro systems and looks, well, pretty awesome.” Of course, they don’t provide an actual image of the finished result, but they do promise a 24-hour turnaround time if you want to try it out yourself — the service will apparently be available “soon.” @TatWza for TatsTechTalk

Sony’s Google TV get a Block from 3 Major networks!!!

Sure You may be able to watch The Office on your Google TV, but perhaps not on demand — ABC, CBS and NBC are barring Sony and Logitech’s web-infused TVs and set-top-boxes from accessing full episodes of streaming video content. The Wall Street Journal reports that all three networks have confirmed the ban, and that Fox hasn’t yet reached a decision on whether it will ban Google TV as well. For its part, Google says that it’s “ultimately the content owners’ choice to restrict their fans from accessing their content on the platform,” so don’t expect the search company to pitch in, unless it can work out some premium arrangements for all parties involved. This is the part where we’d normally direct you to the simple browser tweak that made Hulu accessible when it pulled the very same stunt, but alas, we’re finding Hulu too is once again blocked. Students get a look at this Adaptive Keyboard!

When Microsoft announced its Adaptive Keyboard, backed by an LCD not entirely unlike the Optimus Maximus and its dynamic ways, the company said it’d be hosting a contest to see which students could come up with the best way to use the thing. Now it’s time to look at some of the results. Highlights? One app, with the press of a button, replaces your keys with the icons on your desktop. Another brings Windows Media Player playlist control to your fingertips, and a third lets coders easily navigate namespace, class, and member variables. Oh, and then there’s the app that dynamically remaps your keys to frustrate keyloggers — and users. There are lots more, all presented by some generally uncomfortable looking students over the course of the video embedded after the break. Warning: it’s 24 minutes long, so you’d best get a refill before clicking “Play.” @TatWza

Apple Bringing FaceTime to Mac’s

Ok so this is pretty dope for apple people!! “Now your smile goes even further. FaceTime for Mac makes it possible to talk, smile, wave, and laugh with anyone on an iPhone 4, iPod touch, or Mac from your Mac over Wi-Fi. So you can catch up, hang out, joke around, and stay in touch with just a click. Sure, it’s great to hear a voice. But it’s even better to see the face that goes with it.” Right Now its in Beta and it Requires Mac OS X v10.6.4 Snow Leopard or later but once up and running you’ll be able to video chat from your Mac book, Mac Book Pro, and Mac Book Air to iPhone 4 or New iPod Touch, which will make life a little more Fun! @TatWza
