Toyota urges judges to throw out 300 unintended acceleration lawsuits. Toyota is finished!! -Funk Flex

Toyota has asked a United States judge to throw out the majority of its pending lawsuits on the grounds that the cases are based on anecdotal and circumstantial information. The automaker is currently facing over 300 lawsuits that vary from personal injury to economic loss, nearly all of which are tied in one way or another to the company’s rash of unintended acceleration issues. To date this year, Toyota has recalled eight million vehicles globally for varying reasons, including accelerator pedals that could become entrapped. Some of the lawsuits have been bundled for pre-trial rulings. These consumer cases claim that the quality woes the recalled Toyota models face have driven down the value of those products substantially. Likewise, the company’s claims of quality, safety and reliability have been called into question. Toyota has responded by saying that any claims made in its advertisements were opinion and to be taken as such. The combined lawsuits are being handled in Santa Ana, Californa, where Toyota asked the judge to dismiss the cases against the company. -by Zach Bowman [Source: Bloomberg]

Kanye West Readying 40-Minute ‘Runaway’ Music Video

Kanye West’s next move after his triumphant and expletive-laden VMA comeback performance? A 40-minute music video, naturally. West — whose previous video, ‘Power, was uncharacteristically short — describes his newest creation to NY Mag as “the story of a phoenix fallen to Earth” who becomes his girlfriend before she is discriminated against and burns herself alive to escape the criticism. Sound familiar? West continues on the symbolic nature of phoenixes: “I’ve been feeling the idea of the phoenix. It’s been in my heart for a while. It’s maybe parallel to my career. I threw a Molotov cocktail on my career last year, in a way, and I had to come back as a better person.” If it indeed clocks in at a full 40 minutes, West’s ‘Runaway’ will narrowly best the current title-holder for longest music video, Michael Jackson’s ‘Ghosts’ (39 minutes, 31 seconds). -popeater

Want to leave a gift at MJ’s grave? It’s gonna cost you!

Michael Jackson’s fans have to now pay $3 to continue leaving gifts inside the King of Pop’s mausoleum. According to sources at the infamous burial space, Forest Lawn Cemetery in Glendale, CA has decided to take down the stage where fans were previously allowed to place gifts and is now enacting a new gifting policy, reports TMZ. Effective immediately, cemetery staff will take gifts for MJ inside the mausoleum where fans are still forbidden from setting foot for a $3 fee, as long as those gifts are flowers. Anything else – teddy bears, posters, picture frames and candles will get dumped and if they run out of space inside, it is told excess gifts will have to brave the elements outside.
