Lorenzo Jerald Patterson (born June 14, 1969), better known by his stage name MC Ren, is a rapper who formed part of the group N.W.A. His moniker is derived from his first name (Lorenzo). “Final Frontier” is the solo debut single by MC Ren released from his debut album, Kizz My Black Azz. It was released on September 14, 1992 and was produced by Bobby “Bobcat” Ervin of the L.A. Posse. Though the song was only a minor success, making it to 80 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks and 17 on the Hot Rap Singles, it has arguably become MC Ren’s most well known song. The single was Nas’s first Top 20R&B hit, and was also nominated for a 1997 Grammy Award for Best Rap Solo Performance. Lauryn Hill’s verse interpolates the song “Walk Right Up To The Sun” by The Delfonics.
