2011 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport! “Name is silly but the CUV looks nice” -funk flex

The 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is a CUV that takes the core components of its bigger brother (the regular Outlander) and breaks them down into a smaller, lighter package. But smaller and lighter doesn’t necessarily mean cheaper… while the Outlander Sport’s starting price of $19,275 (*after destination charges) undercuts the Outlander’s by about $3,500, it’s not terribly difficult to option up a Sport beyond the $30,000 mark. Granted, a more realistic set of options still keeps the Outlander Sport well under $30k, but even that pricing seems remarkably close to the bigger, more powerful Outlander V6.

Lightning Car Company GT “when the wheels don’t look good that’s a bad start” -funk flex

The UK-based Lightning Car Company announced that its battery-powered GT will enter a “late prototype” phase soon and hopes to have the vehicle production-ready by spring of 2012. Significant changes have been made since 2007: The proposed in-wheel motors have been ditched for a rear-drive setup and performance numbers have been modified to account for changes made to the drivetrain and electric motors. The car will run from 0-60 miles per hour in five seconds and range is expected to exceed 100 miles.

Mercedes-Benz issues recall over leaking fuel filters!

Mercedes-Benz has issued a recall for the 2011 E-Class, GL-Class, M-Class and R-Class due to leaky fuel filters. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Adminstration, the vehicles’ O-ring may not have been properly lubricated which can result in fuel spilling out onto roads, causing unsafe conditions for other drivers. This recall applies to both gas and diesel powered vehicles. Approximately 2,300 vehicles are affected by this recall, and Mercedes-Benz dealers will replace the fuel filters free of charge.
