Auto:(Photos) Kia Trying To “Upgrade” Their Brand At Chicago Auto Show

Kia had one of the best marketing campaigns in recent memory with the dancing hampsters to advertise the Kia SOUL. But lets face it, at the end of the day it was very clear that compact SUV was a low-level vehicle aimed at the budget conscious buyer. It was marketed as a “cool” car which definitely helped sales, but did not help move Kia into a higher level of a car brand. The new Optima was the first step in trying to slowly upgrade the brand to more a respected name instead of a bargain basement cheap company. Now Kia is going for more with the new “Cross GT” mid-size crossover. The ride will debut possibly today or later this week at the Chicago Auto Show. Just from looking at the released images of the concept, it is clear they are trying to upgrade the brand. The seating appears to be more of a premium style with bucket looking seats. The roof is crazy! Check out the gallery after the jump.

Auto: Government Trying To Shut Down Audi’s “Bright” Idea

Audi has been using their “Matrix” beam lighting system on concept cars for the past 2 years. It is a brilliant idea, but may have some problems actually being used on production cars. The system uses small cameras to detect other vehicles on the road and darkens specific elements of the high-beam pattern to provide maximum nighttime visibility without blinding other drivers. Audi has hopes the new system will help do away with the standard high & low beam settings on cars now. Only issue is the NHSTA ( National Highway Traffic System Administration), does not allow this type of system under it’s current guidelines. Audi wants to know if ANY parts of their lighting system are allowed to be used for production models. If this does not get eventually approved this would be highly counter productive to progress. This is a great piece of technology and would have drivers no longer needing to reach for the high beams and low beams depending how dark it is and if cars are heading towards you. Get it together NHSTA.

Auto:(Video) You Won’t See This Happen Often In A Race

God was definitely on this driver’s side in this race. Not many drivers, let alone the car itself will survive the car doing a complete flip. The most amazing part of this clip is the car keeps on racing after being damaged from flipping end over end. This happened the other day during a rally fighter race in Arizona. The driver was ok after the race. Watch the clip after the jump.

Auto:(Photo) Could This Be The New Ford Mustang In 2015! Futuristic Look

The next generation of the Ford Mustang may go in a totally different direction. If this is true, it would only be the 5th time that Ford has changed the entire platform of the Mustang in the 50 years they have been making the car. But times do change, and I think it would be a nice look. You will always have the hardcore enthusiasts who will never be pleased with change, but at the end of the day you have to consider moving the car and brand forward. The mustang has pretty much had the same overall body platform and shape since around the year 2000. Just with some changes here and there over the years to refresh the car, but if you look at a 2001 Mustang and a 2013 model, you can see too many similarities. Ford has already said the new generation Mustang will not have a retro look, which means it willd be something totally new. Check the gallery after the jump to see a version of what they might look like starting in 2015.

Auto:(Video) Karma Is A B**th For This Driver

Karma did not take long to slap this stupid driver in the face. In a snowstorm, he clearly sees someone walking across the street well ahead of his driving path. Instead of slowing down to be safe, he decides to be an a** and honk his horn at the pedestrian and even speeds up. To make things worse, he even swerves into the direction of the person to try and scare them. What happens to the driver next is well deserved and will hopefully teach him a lesson. Watch the video after the jump.

Auto: Self-Driving Cars Still A Long Way Off

We have all seen video of self driving cars by now. Either we have seen them parking, driving around a city, or just finding it’s way through a parking garage. But just because the technology is here and we see it in practice, does not mean we will be seeing any self driving cars on the market for sale anytime in the near future. Read more after the jump
