Boxing: Ronald Hearns (Thomas Hearns son) gets title fight on Feb. 19

Posted by Sabrina B. @gametimegirl More than two decades after boxing great Thomas Hearns last held a portion of the middleweight title, Ronald Hearns, his son, will have a chance to bring a 160-pound belt back into the family. Ronald Hearns will challenge Felix Sturm for his title Feb. 19 in Stuttgart, Germany, promoter Lou DiBella told ESPN.com on Thursday.

Miss. State teammates brawl in stands

Posted by Sabrina B. @gametimegirl Two players from Mississippi State’s basketball team fought in the stands Thursday night between games at the Diamond Head Classic. Sophomore forward Renardo Sidney and junior forward Elgin Bailey got into the altercation just a few minutes before tipoff of the consolation game between tournament host Hawaii and Utah at the Stan Sheriff Center. Now that’s a stocking stuffer. James and Chris Bosh carried Miami with fellow star Dwyane Wade in street clothes, and the Heat ran over the Phoenix Suns 95-83 on Thursday night to set up a Christmas Day showdown with the Los Angeles Lakers.


NFL: Broncos’ Kevin Alexander arrested on suspicion of assault and battery & waived hours later

Posted by Sabrina B. @gametimegirl We didn’t think much of it when linebacker Kevin Alexander hit the waiver wire earlier today, losing his roster spot on the Broncos in favor of cornerback Chevis Jackson. Alexander appeared in nine games for Denver, recording just four tackles. He went undrafted out of Clemson this April. The move became a story when it was revealed that, just hours before he was cut, Alexander was arrested on investigation of assault and battery by Aurora police in Colorado.
