Boxing: Snow delays Miguel Cotto-Ricardo Mayorga announcement

Braylon Edwards’ court date for DWI moved

Posted by Sabrina B. @gametimegirl Braylon Edwards’ next court date in the proceedings stemming from a Sept. 21 arrest for DWI has been moved from Jan. 11 to March 7, according to the Manhattan District Attorney’s office and Edwards’ attorney, Peter Frankel. Frankel characterized it as the normal course of business, and said in an e-mail that the two sides are still working on resolutions and dealing with discovery issues. A judge granted Edwards’ request to push back the hearing.


NBA: Lakers get 7th win in a row against Knicks

Posted by Sabrina B. @gametimegirl Even before Ron Artest sent Amare Stoudemire plummeting to the Staples Center hardwood with a clothesline flagrant foul, the New York Knicksrealized their longtime rivalry with the Los Angeles Lakers had acquired a pugnacious edge. When the high-flying Knicks also couldn’t make shots, they didn’t even stand a puncher’s chance against the champs.  Kobe Bryant scored 27 points,Andrew Bynum added 18 points and seven rebounds before getting ejected in the fourth quarter, and the Lakers mixed it up with the Knicks in their fourth straight victory, 109-87 Sunday night.


NFL: Colts’ Gary Brackett fined $35K for hit on Titans Ken Amato last week

Posted by Sabrina B. @gametimegirl The NFL fined Indianapolis Colts linebacker Gary Brackett $35,000 Friday for his hit on Tennessee Titans long snapper Ken Amato in last Sunday’s game. Brackett was called for an illegal blindside block on Amato as the linebacker ran toward the Colts’ goal line and hit the long snapper from the side in springing Antoine Bethea for a return off a missed field goal. Titans coach Jeff Fisher called the hit “vicious” and said it cracked Amato’s helmet.


UFC 125: Edgar & Maynard fight to 5-round draw; Edgar retains belt

Posted by Sabrina B. @gametimegirl For five minutes, Gray Maynard looked like the best 155-pound fighter in the world, but he could not extinguish the considerable fire housed within UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar. Edgar retained his title in a hotly contested draw with Maynard in the UFC 125 “Resolution” headliner on Saturday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, weathering a first round in which he was brutalized by nearly 100 power punches from the challenger. Two judges scored it 48-46, one for Maynard and another for Edgar. A third saw it a 47-47 deadlock.
