This is so dope and I’m totally jealous that my college never offered a class as awesome as this one! A class being offered at Georgetown University will be focused on the career and lyrics of Jay-Z. Sociology of Hip Hop: Jay-Z, which will be taught by Michael Eric Dyson, will be open to students this coming up semester. Dyson, who is a friend of Hov’s, has previously taught classes on Marvin Gaye and Tupac Shakur and says that the Jay-Z class will “confront topics present in any sociology course: racial and gender identity, sexuality, capitalism and economic inequality.” Read more about the class and what Jay said about it after the jump. Unheard Selena Songs To Be Published
Selena was killed back in 1995 but that doesn’t mean we won’t be able to hear anymore of her music. According to her father Abraham Quintanilla, fans could hear unheard Selena music and soon! Quintanilla says that he currently owns about 50 previously unheard Selena songs and he plans on releasing them. The songs were recorded when Selena was still a teenager and will probably be a little different than the older Selena. No word yet as to when the songs will be published.
