Kendrick Lamar is really a gem. The Compton has come from a city known for its severe violence and high death rates. That, however, has not hindered him from delivering some of the most thought-provoking rhymes of our time and paying it forward with some children in need. From the White House to City Hall, K. Dot has left his mark. Compton’s mayor Aja Brown took to social media to announce that she has recognized his efforts to support his community, and plans to give him a key to the city on February 13. Kendrick Lamar is using his celebrity and well-deserved exposure to support children who could benefit from his wise words. The Compton rapper released “Pay It Forward,” a video that shows his recent stop at the White House to meet up with President Barack Obama and discuss in detail “the importance of mentoring the youth,” and other topics. While the meet-and-greet was a highlight for the “Pay It Forward” visual, Kendrick is also seen interacting with a young man on the basketball court. “It’s only right that I mentor a young person with the same wisdom that was given to me. If it helps the next kid become a better person in life, I will forever be a … influence, and pay it forward,” he says in the video. Hit the jump for more.

NBA: Knicks Aaron Afflalo Once Sold Kendrick Lamar A Bootleg Copy Of Jay Z’s “Reasonable Doubt”

According to current Knicks guard Aaron Afflalo, he used to hustle by selling donuts at the age of 13. In his piece for “The Players Tribune” he says by age 16 he graduated to selling bootleg cd’s to friends and classmates and as it turns out, one of those classmates went on to some fame of his own.


Dr. Dre Has Hopes Of A European Tour With Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, & Eminem

This would be a show to watch. During the new Beats 1 radio show The Pharmacy, Dr. Dre suggested to listeners and his special guest Snoop Dogg, a European tour (as a U.S. citizen, I’m feeling slightly left out of the dopeness) with some heavy hitters; himself, Snoop D-O-double G, Kendrick Lamar, and Eminem.
