MLB: Rangers Josh Hamilton wins AL Most Valuable Player Award

The MVP voting results were announced at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, and to everyone familiar with Hamilton’s contributions to his Texas Rangers this year, the verdict was not surprising.


Breaking News: Former Yankee Jim Leyritz acquitted of DUI manslaughter, convicted of misdemaenor DUI!

Posted by Sabrina B. @gametimegirl A jury in Florida on Saturday acquitted former major league baseball player Jim Leyritz of DUI manslaughter in a 2007 crash that killed a mother of two. However, Leyritz was convicted on a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence, which carries a maximum sentence of six months in jail. Leyritz had faced up to 15 years in prison if convicted on the manslaughter charge.

Student Daniel Alexander Shana, 20, of Lynn University in Florida was charged on Thursday with two counts of threats to kill or cause bodily harm as well as two counts of extortion due to postings on his Facebook wall that threatened to inflict “Columbine take 2” at the school. NFL: Bucs’ Mike Williams Arrested for DUI this morning

But the fourth-round pick has been the Buccaneers’ best receiver this year and has appeared to be a draft steal. On Thursday night, those off-field issues may have popped back up, as Williams was arrested for driving under the influence.According to the arrest report, Williams was found with a .065 and a .061 blood-alcohol level in a pair of tests — under the legal limit of 0.08 — after he was pulled over at 2:48 a.m. Friday morning. Williams posted $500 bond and was released Friday morning.


Ron Artest wants to try the NFL after contract with the Lakers is done

In an interview airing later this week on CBSSports.com, Artest revealed that he intends to try out for an NFL team when his contract with the Lakers is up after the 2013-14 season. Artest, who taped the interview at the Lakers’ practice facility on Saturday, his 31st birthday, already has divulged that he’s been training for a second career as a heavyweight boxer when his basketball days are over. Little did we know that there’s another professional sport Artest wants to try.
