Michael Vick tells radio station he’ll miss “maybe a week, maybe two weeks”

Posted By Sabrina B. @gametimegirl PHILADELPHIA – Michael Vick got a warning from teammate DeSean Jackson right before he was injured. “I told him: ‘Don’t take no hits like that. We can’t afford you taking hits,’” Jackson said. “He’s just trying to make things happen.” Vick didn’t listen, and he ended up with a rib cartilage injury that will force him to miss “maybe a week, maybe two weeks,” the quarterback told WXTG 102.1’s The Bruce Smith Show out of Virginia Beach on Monday night. “Usually I’m a fast healer, so we’ll have to see,” Vick said on the radio show. “It won’t be no more than two weeks, hopefully. Hopefully.”

Mets fire GM Omar Minaya & decline to excercise contract option for manager Jerry Manuel

Posted by Sabrina B. @gametimegirl NEW YORK (AP)—The New York Mets fired manager Jerry Manuel and general manager Omar Minaya on Monday, an expected shake-up of the big-spending ballclub after its second straight losing season. The Mets said a search is under way for a new GM, who will work with the team to hire a new manager. “We are extremely disappointed in this year’s results and the failures of the past four seasons,” said chief operating officer Jeff Wilpon, the son of owner Fred Wilpon. “We need to hire a new general manager with a fresh perspective who will transform this club into a winner that we want and our fans deserve.”

Giants KO Cutler – pile up a record 9 sacks in the 1st half & win 17-3 over Bears

Posted by Sabrina B. @gametimegirl EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP)—Drop all the talk about Tom Coughlin losing control of the New York Giants. The defense put it to rest on Sunday night with an impressive 10-sack performance that knocked out Bears quarterback Jay Cutler  and his backup and sent Chicago reeling from the unbeaten ranks in a one-sided 17-3 decision. Osi Umenyiora and Justin Tuck recorded three sacks apiece and the Giants limited Chicago to 110 total yards in a performance that brought back memories of New York’s Super Bowl victory over the New England Patriots in February 2008.
