Dwyane Wade may have been the first person outside Kobe’s family to know he was going to retire this season. That’s because the two stars had an unexpected conversation inside American Airlines arena in Miami before the Lakers and Heat faced off last month.

There are some folks out there, including myself, that believe the Lakers should retire both numbers Kobe Bryant wore during his career. He accomplished many things wearing his original #8 jersey but he also enhanced his hall of fame resume while wearing #24. He won three rings with his old number but won two more, plus an MVP award wearing his father’s old number of 24. Shaq was alongside Kobe during the “8” days and he does not believe both numbers should be retired, he thinks only his original jersey should be retired.
