Prior to Oklahoma City’s game against the Raptors on Thursday, Russell Westbrook was asked by reporters how he felt about Steph Curry’s comments earlier this week, when he said that James Harden probably deserves the MVP at this point. His response was exactly the “I don’t give a f*ck” that we have come to expect from Russ.
Reporters had to know that was the answer Russ would give them. Since when does he care what any players do or say? He knows he is the MVP in his own head and that’s all that matters, especially since it’s the truth.
Perhaps the pregame question got him going because he went on to record his 34th triple double of the season, finishing with 24 points, 10 rebounds and 16 assists in the Thunder’s blowout win over the Raptors. He also pulled off this impressive pass, which as of now has to be the best pass we have seen all season.
With the win on Thursday, the Thunder are breathing down the neck of the Los Angeles Clippers for the fifth seed in the western conference playoffs. The higher the Thunder finish, the less the critics can say about Russ not deserving the MVP due to his team’s record.
